Hi, I might be reading too much into this but since the new school term began, a person has been dropping their child off and picking them up from the local school. The person makes a point of parking outside our house and is parked an hour before school starts and an hour before the children come out. The person is spending most of these 2 hours on mobile devices. How do I make sure that they are not hacking in or piggy backing on our system?
Thanks
If the person is a BT broadband customer or has bought BT WiFi access, he can legitimately utilise the spare bandwidth of your hub that you are not using. There is absolutely no security risk to this and it is part of the terms and conditions you signed up to. You can opt out of the scheme if you wish.
Go to MyBT > Your Products > Manage > BTWiFi for details.
The person could of course just be using his/her mobile phones data and not using BTWifi or "hacking" into or "piggy backing" onto your system.
If worried you could go and ask them what they are doing or turn off your BT Hub to see if the person moves off.
