Re: Uploading anything CRIPPLES my download speed

I think you are misunderstanding how the economics of business works. A mass market ISP doesn't spend waste  £zillions providing a fancy router to the millions of customers who have no need of it. It provides a very basic, cheap, locked down device that suits the vast majority.

Re: Uploading anything CRIPPLES my download speed

Wonder if this is what I was seeing last night. Had FTTP installed a couple fo weeks ago but haven't touched it yet. Did some speed tests last night and immediately after the upload potion (which tended to reach expected speeds), the connection would appear to die for maybe 30 seconds. DNS not resolving, no web. Pings to router fine.

Then why does BT charge more for their hub than a decent third-party router with far more customisability? 🤣

Because if people are daft enough to pay it they will charge it.
