Thanks for reply
yeah its exactly that 80MHz 5GHz
and I agree. maybe should get around half, surely that should still be around 500Mbps,
150-200 just seems super low,
Agree that does seem low.
Even aiming for half might be a bit optimistic though.
Anecdotal, but here's what I see sat at my kitchen table about 4 metres from my Wi-Fi 6 hub in a clear line of sight (both devices are sat next to each other): -
Wi-Fi 6 capable Pixel 7 Pro - ~600mbps (half of link speed)
Wi-FI 5 Pixelbook Go - ~360mbps (less than half of link speed)
My Pixelbook admittedly has a little less Wi-Fi grunt compared to your Macbook, however this hopefully helps illustrate that things aren't black and white when it comes to Wi-Fi. There's a whole bunch of stuff to consider outside of the hub itself e.g. capability of the connecting devices, number of devices sharing the Wi-Fi, radio environment/noise etc.
I get just over 400Mbs down from my SH2 to my Galaxy S23
I use channel 100 ASUS AX88u and basically get 800-900 speed around full house. Must be hardly any congestion. Very solid performance iPhone iPad and Mac.
Thats amazing speeds,
Just out of curiosity, whats the models of your devices,
Im trying :
Macbook pro 16, (says supports wifi AC/1300Mbps)
Iphone pro 13,
Apple 4k Tv ( but wired can do 930/110 solid)
These devices up and down, 150Mbps-250Mbps (wifi)
Now tempted to get Asus. Router, not waste any more time on netgear,
Hi,
iPad Pro 2020. MacBook M1 Max 16 inch and iPhone 13 Pro
I do recommend the ASUS AX88u router. Has 8 ports and solid Wi-Fi 6 performance.
Fingers crossed, just ordered the ASUS AX88u. get it tomorrow,
Its a weird situation, I guess around 3 weeks ago, I was on 300Mbps profile for the last 3 years,
running rock solid all devices around 310Mbps totally stable. wifi and wired, Then the only. change made
was changing my profile to 900Mbps, since then all wifi devices are not stable, wifi 150Mbps-250Mbps. and wired Laptops. 450-470Mbps, 3 openreach engineers see the issue and say they totally have no idea, and they close case
off and say need to go back to my provider, which is BT,
New router arrived today, from amazon 🙂
Tried so far:
BH2
Netgear RAX200.
now
Asus. AX88U Pro. so far not a real improvement, trying on several devices, no consistancy at all
up and down like a yoyo, more so down, more consistant 200-300Mbps all devices, the odd
test comes in a 500Mbps then every other test back arounf 200-300Mbps
On Macbook Pro AC/1300 , ( not wifi 6)
Speedtest @ 2.4.Ghz 26Mbps down
https://www.speedtest.net/result/14695554093
Speedtest @ 5Ghz. 210Mbps down.
https://www.speedtest.net/result/14695627054
Iphone 13 Pro max. (not wifi 6). on 5Ghz
average 200-300Mbps,
Samsung s20 Ultra. ( Wifi 6)
200-300Mbps
Samsung s23 Ultra (wifi 6)
200-300Mbps
screen shot from router page, ive tried changing settings, when changes
take effect the SSID seems to stop braodcasting,
another bt engineer out tomorrow
Very Strange
now since around midnight. wifi speed on all devices has jumped up,
Iphone around 650-700Mbps
Macbook around 600Mbs
Samsung around 650Mbps,
Now need to wait and see if ALL drop back down tomorrow,
FTTP 900, Asus GT-AX6000
Direct speedtest on router 935/105 - with 40ish devices this is the only means to perform a clean speed test.
Poco F3 820/100
Most other 5GHz devices (inc WiFi6) 300-350/60-90
2.4GHz WiFi 4 devices 30-50/20-40
