@LR34  There are no BT employees who are active on the forum except Moderating Staff and the TV Tech Expert, who all have to split their time between this forum and the EE forum. One wonders why they just don’t merge the forums, it’d probably save everyone some money 🙄

I am a BT customer not EE the amount of money to pay is irreverent the fact is I am under contract to BT I am questioning the fact BT are changing my contract, iniltous Distinguished Guru mentioned staying on an out of date  legacy  broadband         It does not matter what deal you are on you can always go to retention  get it cheaper

As for not paying and leaving  It seems like they are trying to discourage  so they will leave thous no legacy problems

@remecraftsman  It's a misconception that you would get a cheaper deal going through retentions. There are plenty of customers who have tried the retentions route and failed to get a cheaper deal. I tried it myself (more than once) and at the time, I was literally sneered at on the phone when I tried to get them to match new customer pricing on anything. I ended up jumping ship and got what I wanted as a new customer with a another BT Group ISP for the price that retentions refused to give me.

Clearly some customers try and fail to get retention deals that are acceptable, which is why the ultimate sanction is to change provider, those that say adamantly that trying to negotiate is pointless are as wrong, it’s as plain as that ,  as are those that say negotiation will get the required outcome ….my own take , try retentions , if you don’t get something close to the new customer price (and in my case that was exactly the result I achieved) nothing is lost , you can still exercise your right to leave, immediately jumping to the changing provider for the want of trying retention is the definition of petulance.

We’ve clearly gone off topic here though I’d say where’s the petulance in not speaking to retentions?

From a personal standpoint, I have zero loyalty to any company. Quite simply, I’m all for myself and my wallet and that is why I personally swap ISP every couple of years. Why should I have to go to the effort of making a call to a person in a call centre and negotiate a discounted rate that matches what a new customer can get when I can simply spend just 5 minutes on my laptop and initiate a brand new deal using One Touch Switching and it’s all done and dusted within a couple of days?

That’s the beauty of choice, petulance has nothing to do with it.

@DarrenDev Is this email going out to everyone who still has free TNT Sport (either through legacy broadband or mobile deals)? Is it to do with BT selling off its interest in TNT?

@Colin_London the email will eventually be sent to all affected customers on BT Broadband. I'm not aware of any legacy mobile packages also still offering it.

Having  read the comments on my post  i think the word petulance  when used on a forum it  can be construed as passive aggressive

Other points i have always used retention, yes it does work. I may move somewhere else if they remove TNT sports which appears they should not as it as is stated it is legacy broadband in other posts in 2024 

  I was only thinking how it effects me but the amount  people affected with it runs into thousands  with people on mobiles and Broadband as seem with time to roll out, the initial Email was  in middle  of august  2026

I came on this forum for advice
