Good night. I am a new BT broadband customer and I should be already connected to the internet now. I received an email and SMS earlier today saying my internet connection was all ready to go, but my Smart Hub 2 device shows a steady orange light instead of blue light. Smart Hub is connected to OpenReach via the red cable that came with the box. I tried connecting one of my devices to the modem and access 192.168.1.254 to manually set my modem through the help wizard, but couldn't see any help wizard on the device homepage. Earlier today I contacted BT and they said there was no problems on their end and internet connection would start from midnight, which didn't happen. To be honest I have searched all Google, this community and YouTube for ways to fix this issue and couldn't find any. Is there anything I can do in order to fix this quickly?
Welcome to this user forum.
I assume you are on a direct fibre with a separate Openreach modem?
What lights are lit on the Openreach modem, and are any of them flashing?
There are four LEDs on the FTTP modem. All should be green except LOS which should be off. If that's all good then make sure that you have the ethernet cable in port 4 of the router & that the router is set to FTTP mode in the web interface at 192.168.1.254.
Although I'm now doubting you have FTTP as that would normally be commissioned by Openreach, rather than over the phone. If you have FTTC & an old BT modem plugged into a master socket, you can remove it & connect the DSL port on the Hub directly to the master socket. In this case FTTP mode in the Hub should be off but I believe should still work with it on.
