DIGITAL VOICE

Hi all, about to renew my broadband contract, and was advised 'digital voice' would be included. Not being fully conversant with technology changes, I checked, and found reasons for change (ie termination of copper wire) meant I had to update my alarm system, costing in excess of £600 as 'digital voice' used the router, BUT in the event of power disruption, the alarm system would not work.

Further digging into the why's and wherefores of 'digital voice' it seems my existing extension phones and loud bell may not work and may need to be replaced.   None of the above was mentioned at time of enquiry.

Please does anyone have information about 'digital voice' which may help.

Thanks

Re: DIGITAL VOICE

@OAP41 before 2025 everyone will be moved onto this Internet based (VoIP) based voice service as the current system is closing. From September 2023, next year, a nationwide stop sell will be in place for any new supply of the current phone system.
