My phone is now on digital voice, last night our broadband was down for a while (a number of users were affected) and our Hybrid connect kicked in so that we remained connected. My question is as our phone line now goes via our smart hub does that mean we could have still made calls via the hybrid connect ?

No, digital voice does not work via Hybrid Connect. The best work-a-round is to divert your calls to your mobile if you have one.
