Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

Sky Q tv installation has caused ring door camera to stop working. Read a lot online that the sky Q mini boxes cause a mesh network which causes the ring camera to drop off

ive tried logging into BT admin page disconnecting all 5 GHz devices on the network and try and reconnect the ring camera that way but still ineffective

has anyone solved this

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

SKY Q uses channel 36 so you need to change hub wifi channel from smart to say channel 44 or 48 also doing as you have by turning off 5ghz in hub and connecting ring cameras to 2.4ghz and once connected restart the 5ghz wifi seems to work for others

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

No luck - i turned off 5ghz and still not able to connect the ring camera. i also went on the sky q boxes and turned of 2.4ghz connectivity as both 2.4 and 5 were set to on.

Also tried changing the channel on 2.4ghz, no luck their either

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

I assume you are using ring app so does the camera 'see' the hub SSID with strong signal?

Have you reset camera back to factory settings and started again

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

Simply adding Sky Q will have no effect on the Ring doorbell as one uses the 5Ghz band and the other uses 2.4Ghz band.

What EXACTLY did you do when installing Sky Q? Did you make any other changes?

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

We had a sky technician come over to fit in 2 new sky Q boxes. Main box is wired to the satellite dish and running off WiFi and mini box is connected to main box and connect to WiFi No changes to the WiFi were made. Since instillation our Ring spotlight fails to connect to the WiFi

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

Is it a Ring spotlight cam plus or Ring spotlight cam Pro?

The first is 2.4Ghz only, the second dual band.

If it is the pro, have you tried changing the 5Ghz channel on the hub as suggested by @imjolly

Re: Sky Q tv installation disconnecting ring door camera

In which case I really can't see how adding Sky Q would have any effect. Are you sure the technician didn't change anything on the BT hub?

All I can suggest is to factory reset the spotlight and set it up again. You will need to temporarily turn off the  5Ghz on the hub whilst you do it in order to force your phone to use the 2.4Ghz band so it can connect in ad hoc mode to the camera. You can restore the 5Ghz once it is done.
