Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

OK thanks. So it seems your device is reporting that it doesn't support the encryption that our content uses, however that would be surprising.

We've got a couple of things to try, and we're also going to put together some self-help for this in future, however for now, would you mind please checking this web site using the Edge browser on your Windows PC?

https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm

Towards the bottom of that page you'll see something like this:

It's specifically playready that we need to confirm works OK.  Is it ticked for you?

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

Thanks, no only widevine is ticked. playready, primetime and fairplay are not.

Edge is updated to the latest version automatically, currently 100.0.1185.39

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

I've also tried enabling it in edge://flags and restarting the browser, but still showing as unsupported.

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

OK thanks, so that at least matches our investigations.  Could I ask you to try disabling Widevine and restarting?  It's a long shot, but there have been some reports that with both PlayReady and Widevine enabled, some systems fail on both.

edge://flags/#edge-widevine-drm

It's also worth checking edge://gpu to see if PlayReady hardware DRM is enabled.

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

No joy after disabling widevine.

In edge://gpu I see that:

Version Information:

Command Line = ... --enable-features=msPlayReadyWin10 ...

Media Foundation Rendering Capabilities:

PlayReady Hardware DRM disabled = true

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

OK thanks.
Did the previous BT TV app work for you on Windows? Were you able to play video with it?

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

Unfortunately, at this stage I'm afraid to say that your PC most likely can't be supported. It's worth checking Windows Update to see if any driver updates are available for your display, but without PlayReady Hardware DRM being available, there's currently no way to make it work.

We're looking to support Widevine in a future update, however this is likely to be many months away.

We'll be updating the WP035 error to reflect this very shortly.

Re: Windows cannot login with BT TV player

Yes, that's almost certainly the issue. Is your Windows 10 up to date? Google suggests that the bug referenced there was in an old build of Windows (2 years ago).
