Speed to hub 70mb speed to devices is 7mb

The speed to the hub consistently measures at 70mb on the BT app but the speed to devices measures below 10mb there is no correlation between peak times and the speed , I understand that some speed will be lost between the hub and devices but but 90% is too much. The highest speed I have ever measured is 25mb with a wired connection from the hub. What can be done to fix this and improve speeds

Re: Speed to hub 70mb speed to devices is 7mb

Hi Alistairjcooke1, Thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see you're having issues with your broadband speed. Can you post your Home Hub router stats and we'll take a look? You'll get them by entering 192.168.1.254 in your browser, if you have a home hub 5 please go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if its a Smart Hub go to advanced settings then technical log information.

I'd also recommend you do a quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 it should be silent.

Re: Speed to hub 70mb speed to devices is 7mb

Hi @Alistairjcooke1, thanks for doing that. The router stats show your line speed is currently 76.3Mb so there doesn't appear to be a problem with the line or network.  I'd recommend you try the checks on this link to improve your wifi signal. It may also be worth trying to manually adjust the wireless channel by following the below steps.

  1. Open the Hub Manager by typing 192.168.1.254 in your web browser
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Enter the admin password. Unless you've previously changed it, you'll find the default password on your Hub settings card on the back of your Hub. If you have changed it and now forgotten it, you can use the password reset feature to set up a new password
  4. Click on the "Advanced Settings" tab, then click Continue to Advanced Settings
  5. Click on the "Wireless" tab
  6. To manually select the wireless channel for the "2.4 GHz" band:
    • Go to the 2.4GHz page and select a channel from the drop down menu next to "Wireless Channel". First try channels 1, 6 or 11
    • Click Apply to confirm the change. Then wait 60 seconds for your computer to automatically discover the new settings. There's no need to change any settings on your computer
  7. You can do the same on the 5GHz page to change your 5GHz wireless channel. We recommend selecting channel 36, 40, 44 or 48

Re: Speed to hub 70mb speed to devices is 7mb

In addition to selecting different network channels I would split the 2.4/5ghz band as many devices do not line networks combined
