Banded Broadband

Go to solution

Hi,

Hoping someone can help as my connection is being limited and seems stuck on a banded profile of 60/20.

Line is stable for over a year now.

Can someone please look into remove the cap so as to achieve full potential of the line?

Thanks  🙂

DLM usually removed banded line in their own time! Don't think BT will able to remove it off unless there is a fault on the line for the engineer to attend to repair fault then resetted DLM. If no fault, then nothing BT can do about it. You need to wait until DLM will removed banded in due course.

your stats, probably tplink, don't show internet connection time or system up time

Its a Draytek Vigor 130, running into a Vigor 2925ac.

I've seen 3500 hours system up time before, but we had a power cut over a week ago.

The connection stats haven't budged for at least two years now.

The  available lines speeds have increased in the last few months as our estate has been upgraded with FTTP and quite a lot of Openreach vans have been flying about upgrading people.

Just wanted to see if there is an easy way to make use of the spare capacity.

Thx

You seem to have a fairly high CRC error count.

I would be extremely surprised if you noticed the difference between 60M and 67M in any case.

Re: Banded Broadband

system uptime just shows how long system has had a power connection and not same as internet connection time which is the important time

Re: Banded Broadband

I assume using the terminal window, you've already used the "vdsl snr" command?  If not then using a negative command will try to force the SNR lower.  As the cabinet ALWAYS has the last say, you can try "vdsl snr -50", noting though that if you do increase the download speed the upload speed will usually decrease.

*Just don't play with that command too much or DLM may kick in as it reboots the connection everytime!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!

Re: Banded Broadband

As DLM has banded the line, nothing other than a DLM reset by Openreach will have any effect.

Played with that setting years ago and did get higher rates.

At the moment no snr changes are in play.

Re: Banded Broadband

Well just spent over an hour on the phone with BT repairs, then another networking department.

My local cabinet has recently been updated with vectoring, and the attainable download speed has increased to 78mbs.

Sync is still restricted to 60mbs as before.

BT wont do anything as there is no fault on the line and its stable.

They will however get an engineer involved for  £185.00 with no guarantees.

So unless I have a faulty line they will not do a DLM reset or remove the banding.  😞

Just pondering if its a marketing move to force us onto FTTP as its available in my area?.
