Tried again…
Managed to get up to 3900 photos then got a message “we are experiencing technical issues, try again later”.
No further forward…against a fixed time limit.
Managed to select 8220 photos, selected Download, nothing happening after 15 minutes so far, will leave it running , no idea what timeout limit is.
Hi @Cicero,
Thank you for posting. Have you been able to successfully download all your photos?
What device are you using to download and are you using the BT Cloud desktop client?
Thanks,
Paddy
Hi, I managed to eventually download just over 8000.
Must have taken about an hour as I left it and when I got back it had downloaded them.
I used the desktop client . It is confusing as once you hit the download button it seems freeze, presumably it is getting the photos. It downloaded 14gb worth which is about 25% of my total.
i did it on my desktop straight to Downloads and moved it from there.
Hi @Cicero
Thanks for coming back and letting us know you have been able to download your photos now.
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.
👍. You are welcome.
Hi all,
I'm replying to my original post as I don't see where else to post it, so hope you all pick it up OK.
I received a call from the BT CEO complains department this morning. Cutting the story short, the closure of the cloud service is a 'business descision' and nothing we can do about it.
I was also told that BT cloud is a 'free service' that customers could use to backup their data etc if they wished. It was offered to full fibre customers.
I said that we pay for the cloud through taking out a contract with BT, to which the CSA still insisted it's a free service!
I told the CSA that I totally disagreed that it's free and like many thousands of customers, we are angered and disgusted with the closure of BT cloud and that we would have to now, if we wished, pay an extra cost for an alternative cloud service. I was told that, if I wished, I could purchase an external storage device to download all my data/files too.
Another gem is that BT Broadband customers will be offered to take EE Broadband upon contract renewal in the near future. I said "what exactly will be left of BT for private user?" No answer, although it was suggested maybe EE could offer a cloud service in future. I said that would come at an added cost no doubt.
I did mention that many people are having issues downloading their data/files etc, to be told if I have any issues to call the tech department.
So there you have it. Nothing we can do to stop the closure of BT cloud 😔😡
"So there you have it. Nothing we can do to stop the closure of BT cloud "
TBH, did you expect any other response? The closure of BT Cloud was never realistically going to be stopped.
If I were still a BT customer, the thing that would grate with me is their "don't care" attitude - so long as they have you under contract and you keep paying the money!
I'm sure you will all be remembering this, come your contract renewal time....
.
No, I didn't expect any other response, but I'm glad I was given the opportunity to speak to a human being for as long as it took to vent my feelings for how the majority are feeling on the forum, to which, they sent me a text with their contact details if I feel the need to get back in touch directly.
I am happy with the conclusion of the chat, no of course not ...
It clearly is a business decision but they, BT , must ensure that we the users can download our data. I have tried twice this afternoon to download further data but encountered “technical problems try again later”.
I can see some real issues brewing especially those people who have large quantities of data.
