Re: Digital

Yep that is what I bought, and only works every 4th or 5 th attempt for outgoing calls. Incoming calls is fine.

Looking for help as to why it won’t work consistently for out going calls

Re: Digital

So is there a phone socket adjacent to where the phone is required that could be repurposed or not?

Re: Digital

  • No both the phone port and the router are wrong side of the room, hence the need for the adapter. Phone works fine “plugged in” but is in the wrong place. When I use the filter it receives calls fine but outgoing is hit and miss, pretends to be calling but doesn’t connect on most attempts, occasionally it does. Have even tried the adapter next to the router as a test to see if it was signal issue but no better.

So how did she manage before the change to DV?

Re: Digital

Not sure this is going to help but… 6 months ago she was using the original old phone that was hard wired into the bt line so was on the other side of the room. After moving to digital the by engineer gave her a new compatible phone that was also on the other side of the room. Her mobility had changed, and we were able to move the new bt phone next to where she sits as it only needs to be near a power supply. Unfortunately the phone is black, with black buttons, small writing and a very low light screen. All of which had meant she struggles with using it. I have bought a “Swiss voice” phone, white with black buttons and a bright screen and an easy photo button which she just needs to press to ring out her contacts. Unfortunately this new phone, unlike the bt phone, needs to be either hard wired (mobility issues) or use an adapter. The adapter works for incoming not outgoing.

Re: Digital

Options:

  • Try another (free) DVA in case it's faulty
  • Relocate the router with a longer cable
  • Run an extension telephone cable to where it's required
  • Return the Swissvoice & replace it with the Geemarc equivalent, for which you can get photo dialling handsets

Re: Digital

Thanks, the extension to the wiring is possible but will require lifting carpets (when I say wrong side of the room I mean east west) so either across the room under carpets or right around the room.
i might try another adapter but was hoping for other feedback saying theirs work or otherwise as I’ve not any experience of it actually working

the alternative phone you suggest seems to also come with a dect phone which might be the answer. As in hard wire the base unit and have a dect handset on the side of the room where she sits.

Re: Digital

The fact these forums aren't deluged with complaints about DVAs should give a clue. The fact you can get one for free surely makes it no brainer?
