Elderly relative with DV now requires Telecare and cannot use a mobile

My elderly mother has deteriorating health. Prior to her deterioration she re-contracted her phone and FTTC which involved a move to DV. Due to her health conditions she can no longer use a mobile phone, relies on her home phone for emergency contact, and now needs to subscribe to a Telecare service. This raises a number of questions:

  • How can we provide battery backup for her service?
  • Her line frequently drops (at least once a day) and whilst she has the BT Halo hybrid connect I understand that the phone line will not work if running on 4G backup - is this correct and would I get a line with 1 or 2 drops per day fixed?
  • Is DV compatible with Telecare services?

Many thanks for any responses

Thanks, I have asked the local Telecare provider this question, but sometimes it is useful to confirm both sides of an interface.

This is the tests results done by TSA, the telecare industry association. As you can see it depends on the monitoring centre they use and the unit.

It's also recommended for the telecare to also use the mobile network as a fallback when needed. Speak to your telecare provider about this
