Maybe we should await his/her reply rather than trying to second guess.
The OP actually posted "Hi, was just wondering if you can get a second BT router in the same house"
This is not the same as saying that he doesn't have an old router laying around somewhere, just that he doesn't have an old BT router laying around. A subtle but non the less relevant detail.
The OP also said
"If you can get a second router, where would you get one"
which is why I said
"The OP was asking where he can get a 2nd router so it would appear he doesn't have a spare one and would need to source one".
Hi yes the whole reason I need a Ethernet port is to connect it to my xbox all the way up in the attic. My router is on the bottom floor and was wondering the best option
Hi, no I do not have a spare BT router. Do you know of another option, thank you 🙂
You don't need anything. Simply run an Ethernet cable from the router to your xbox
Hi, all I require is just 1 Ethernet port for my xbox mainly to use the main routers broadband but not sure how. Thank you 👍🏻
I cant run an ethernet cable from my router to my xbox as it is all the way 2 floors down
Then just use powerline adapters such as https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/tl-pa717-kit/
Any other solution will require running an Ethernet cable.
Yes, I have tried to do the connection via power line adapters and was not very good at all
