With Digital Voice as calls are placed over the internet, are we charged for these or do we need a call package on top? Surely if it’s digital it should be included with the broadband?
You are charged at the same rate as you were on the analogue PSTN network. You would need a call package if you make a lot of calls, as PAYG could get expensive.
You are paying for the cost of routing your calls to their destination, whichever transmission network is used.
Just because BT ‘DV’ calls are ‘internet protocol’ , why would you think they are ‘free’ , some may say that because they are not charged for WhatsApp , FaceTime etc why should BT charge for calls , but you do pay for those apps indirectly, by surrendering your user data and with targeted and random adverts etc …if you don’t want to pay for calls with BT you are under no obligation to take a phone service from BT , you simply make your own arrangements as far as telephone calls if you can get them for ‘free’
